A string of provisions have been made available at the Lucknow Airport, including refrigerated containers and cold storage room within the cargo complex to boost the cargo handling capacity here, a spokesperson said. This infrastructure facelift will help exported preserve perishable goods like vegetables, meat, fruits, and other similar items for a longer time. This, in turn, will increase the cargo limit at the CCSIA and position it as the go-to cargo hub for various exporters from Kanpur and other satellite regions near the Lucknow Airport.
Lucknow Airport presently deals in the import-export of e-commerce, courier, auto parts, Post Office mails, general cargo, valuables, mobile phones and perishables, added reports. This will also be scaled and the management is in talks with various multinational companies to use the airbase as their regional distribution centre.
Meanwhile, The CCSIA Authorities are further planning to develop the airport as a transshipment hub of Uttar Pradesh. Lucknow Airport is strategically located and has enough capacity, making it desirable for various exporters to utilise this space. The new cargo provisions will help to achieve this, effectively, the spokesperson concluded.
