Lucknow boy, Rahul Jha has brought a moment of pride for the entire city by bagging the military honour of Sena Medal (Gallantry) for his unparalleled and devoted service at the India-Sino Line of Actual Control, last year. Currently still posted at the area of action, Captain Jha is yet to receive his award which was conferred to him by the President of India on January 26.

A Sena Award is awarded to personnel of the Indian Military, of all ranks for extending individual acts of exceptional devotion to duty or courage for the nation. And Lucknow boy, Captain Rahul Jha is among the 455 gallantry and other award winners who received MIlitary honours for their courageous service on the occasion of India’s 72nd Republic Day.
Captain Jha was a part of the first battalion of the Gorkha Rifles, posted at the LAC. He not only showed exemplary leadership and bravery in the face of the enemy but also upheld his role as a part of one of the oldest infantry of the country, guarding the Indian front to victory, preventing Chinese infiltrations, last year.
A local student at the Delhi Public School- Eldeco, in Lucknow, he joined the National Defence Academy, Pune after finishing schooling. From there, he got enrolled at the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun and as an SCC there, he bagged the trophy of the best 3rd termer. A man of many interests, Captain Jha, an avid reader, a cricketer, and adventure sports lover got commissioned in the Indian Army in 2017.
The news of his honour has brought in a sense of pride to his family, where his brother, Rohan stated that it is difficult to articulate his feelings in words.
