Lucknow Metro completes one year on September 5 and here is what all has changed in the last 1-year. Although metro is a very convenient mode of transport, people are sceptical about its use here, as they do feel cheaper means of public transport already exists in Lucknow. But that can only be decided once the metro is fully ready and functional.
To find out how the metro has been performing now, our team went on a ride from Charbagh to Alambagh and this time we found everything to be right on track!
The stations are in perfect shape and the number of trains has also been increased from 3 to 6.
We also spotted the famous Vada Pav chain- Goli and some more cafes and shops at the Chabagh metro station. Many more eating joints are to open in other metro stations.
Riders have significantly increased in the number and in about 6 months, the North-South (21 stations) corridor will be ready too. So by March 2019, trial runs will begin in other areas as well.
The N-S corridor stretches from Chaudhary Charan Singh (Amausi) airport to Munshipulia, for which the minimum fare is Rs 10 and maximum is Rs 60. The fare of the Lucknow Metro has been finalized by keeping in mind the fare of other metro projects in the country and also the competition from other transport options in Lucknow.
The Hazratganj Metro Station is almost ready and it’s going to be the longest underground station in the city, with a maximum number of shops, lounges, cafes and ATM’s. The station will have four entries- Cathedral School, LIC office, Mayfair Building and near DRM office. The metro station of Hazratganj is inspired by kathak and has been painted beautifully with kathak mudras!
Local commuters and tourists can buy smart cards called GO-smart from any metro station, and avail a discount of 10%. The card comes at a price of Rs.200, in which Rs.100 is the fare top-up and Rs.100 is the security amount, which is refundable.
