In a move to beautify and improve railway stations across the country, the government is planning to install the National Flag in over 60 railway stations all around India. Out of the 60 stations, 12 of them are here in Uttar Pradesh. Charbagh- which is already in the works for a complete interior overhaul, will be home to one of a kind 100-ft flag pole bearing the National flag.
From what officials stated, it became clear that the 12 stations in Uttar Pradesh where the flag will be installed, will be the ones that come under the wing of Northern Railways’ division. The first such flag in the NR division is set to unfurl at Varanasi sometime this month followed by Charbagh.

Apart from hoisting the flag, the stations have also been marked for other renovations as well. Authorities stated that they aim to enhance travel quality of a passenger in the Indian Railways and also give a much needed rework to the facilities and infrastructure currently available at these stations. They aim to create new entry gates in several of these stations thereby reducing the congestion and removing the possibility of a choke point at a single entry gate.

By 2020, Charbagh will have a seperate building- one that will be nearly identical to the existing one and will act as an entry point as well as a whole new platform. With a daily footfall of almost 1.25 lakh, the secondary entry points will certainly benefit residents of Cantonment, Anand Nagar, Alambagh and Ashiyana among others.
Another benefit of the rework would be that the roads adjacent to the railway station which are usually chockablock, will become less crowded. We are eagerly awaiting the addition of the 100-ft flag which will surely spark up a sense of pride in our hearts.
