The orders are valid for schools across all boards!
The Uttar Pradesh Government has banned any increase in school fees for the upcoming academic session (2022-23). This order is applicable to all schools and all boards across the state. The directive has been issued in view of the financial burden that has been put on families because of the pandemic. The schools will only be allowed to charge fees that were applicable in the year 2019-20.
Strict action against violators
Additional Chief Secretary, Secondary Education, Aradhana Shukla, has issued directives to all private schools across the state in this regard. This is the second successive year that the government has banned the hike in school fees. The order also directs the director of education, the secretary, secondary education, along with the divisional education director and the district inspectors of schools to take strict action against all violators.
Parents welcome the ban with open arms
Many parents have had to face immense economic burdens because of the pandemic. This ban will help assuage some of their troubles and grant them a brief respite until they are able to get back on their feet.
Mithun Khetan, a resident of Daliganj, says, "My business suffered extremely during the last year due to Covid, the losses of which have still not been recovered. I live in a joint family and managing finances had become really tough through the last lockdown."
Mithun had to make sure that his daughter's education was not impacted in such circumstances. The child is 9 years old and is currently in the 4th standard in a private school. He continues, "Amid all the chaos, there was absolutely no relief in fees provided from her school, despite the whole curriculum being shifted online."
While he is happy about the government's decision, he also demands firm execution. "The government has a big role to play here. They release orders but aren't able to make private schools follow these with strictness", he concludes.
