Telemetric weather stations to be set up across 100 drought-prone tehsils in UP

Bundelkhand districts high on the priority list.

In a bid to keep an eye on the threat of drought, telemetric weather stations (TWS) will come up at 100 drought-prone tehsils. Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, and seven Bundelkhand districts have been identified as the priority spots to set up these stations.

Land for the stations to be marked SOON

Funds of up to ₹10 crore has been released for this new project and ADMs of all the involved districts have been asked to mark the land to set up these stations.

Furthermore, all these TWSs will be set up at a distance of somewhere between 7 km to 10 km from the Automatic Weather Stations (AWSs) and ARGs (Automatic Rain-Gauge Stations).

Necessary measures will also be taken to protect the machinery from threats posed by rain, strong winds, sunlight, and theft.
