Lucknow and Bareilly are two cities that have quite a bit of traffic between them. The cities are connected via a plethora of routes, be it railway or roads, yet most of these take so much time that you end up spending a major part of the day travelling. Not anymore! If you’re someone who travels between the two cities frequently we have some good news for you.
Lucknow and Bareilly may soon be connected via a direct flight. Bareilly will soon become a part of the select few cities that have a direct connection to Lucknow.
What’s the update?
Under the Regional Connectivity System (RCS), Bareilly expected to be connected with Lucknow via a direct air-link, starting April. This will not only help improve the connectivity between the cities but would also ensure that a less time consuming route is developed here.
According to a recent report by HT, a formal pact between Turbo Aviation Limited- a private operator and HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) is to soon be inked. The services were expected to start last year but were delayed because of some reason.
The introduction of this air link will decrease the travel time between the two cities significantly. While it takes a minimum of 4 hours to travel via train or road to reach Bareilly from Lucknow, via flight it is expected to take not more than an hour and a half.
According to the same report, TAL is in talks with HAL for the purchase of two 19-seater aircrafts. Once done only one flight would be made operational initially and then the second one would start soon after. Since the first phase of the airport has already been constructed, operations are expected to begin anytime soon.

The flight services between Lucknow and Bareilly are sure to be a relief to those who had been inconvenienced by the long road/rail journey. Plus, it will also bring in a fresh load of business opportunities between the two cities.
