YEIDA Board greenlights development of plastic processing park near Jewar Airport
To bolster the industrial ecosystem in Uttar Pradesh and address the escalating demand for plastic, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) Board recently granted approval for the establishment of a plastic processing park.
According to the proposed project, a plastic processing park will be developed on a 100-acre plot within the YEIDA area, adjacent to Jewar Airport in Gautam Buddha Nagar. Additionally, this park will house cutting-edge manufacturing and processing units, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, in order to effectively cater to demand for plastic throughout the nation.
Shared facility to manufacture diverse plastic products
The All India Plastic Industries Association had previously put forth a proposal to YEIDA for the establishment of the plastic park. Subsequently, after obtaining the necessary approval from the authority and receiving the in-principle approval from the state government, the project has attracted significant attention from potential investors.
The project will be integrated into the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals' scheme initiated by the Government of India. As part of this scheme, the state government has committed to allocate land for the construction of a shared facility aimed at manufacturing an array of plastic products.
What is the current progress on the project?
Currently, the project is in its preliminary phase, and YEIDA has formally requested detailed project reports (DPR) from all potential investors who have expressed their interest.
On the other hand, the plastic park will witness the establishment of the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology, which will incorporate a dedicated testing laboratory for research and recycling of plastics within the park premises.
