IIT Bombay is gearing up for its highly anticipated annual fest, Alumination 2024, set to take place on the 27th of October. Organised by the Student Alumni Relations Cell (SARC), this flagship event aims to foster connections between alumni and current students, promoting knowledge exchange and networking opportunities.
This year’s theme, “Noren of Nostalgia”, draws inspiration from traditional Japanese cultural values, symbolising the intersection of past wisdom and future potential. Attendees can look forward to an exciting line-up of events, including workshops, discussions, competitions, interactive sessions, and more!
IIT-Bombay: Key events to attend
A highlight of Alumination 2024 is the series of Workshops on Non-Core Fields like Finance, Consulting, Analytics, Blockchain, and Quantitative Analysis, guiding students toward diverse career paths. Further, the Innovation Expo will feature alumni-founded startups alongside student projects, creating a unique networking hub for tech enthusiasts and entrepreneurs.
For placement preps, SARC has organised Mock Interviews and Group Discussions to help final-year students gain feedback and confidence. Another key event, the Sarcathon, is a Pan-IIT competition that includes activities like a Consulting Challenge and AI Hackathon, showcasing students’ problem-solving skills. It comes with a prize pool of INR 4 lakhs, which is sure to attract some of the brightest minds across the IIT network!
Also, the alumni can look forward to Hostalgia, which will offer them a chance to revisit their former hostels, while the Break the Ice session will connect students with alumni mentors for personalised career insights. Additionally, alumni entrepreneurs, such as Aahana Gautam (Open Secret) and Anupam Siddhant (Bombay Locale), will be seen sharing their journeys in innovation during Start It Up and Trailblazers.
Events like Un-Engineering and Beyond the Horizon will feature alumni who took unconventional paths, with inspiring stories from Sameer Saxena (TVF) and Comedian Vipul Goyal. On the other hand, The Shadow Program will offer real-world exposure to the students in alumni-led workplaces, including Deloitte, Bajaj Auto, NSE, and L&T, bridging academic knowledge with industry practice.
