To address complaints regarding overcharging, refusal of service, and misconduct by auto-rickshaw, taxi, Ola, and Uber drivers, a unified WhatsApp helpline will soon be launched for Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). The announcement was made during a Parliamentary meeting on Thursday.

Passengers in areas such as Bandra, Khar, and Andheri railway stations frequently face these issues. According to reports, such incidents have become an increasing concern, with passengers expressing frustration over the lack of accountability.

Call for immediate action

In response to these complaints, Motor Transport Department and Traffic Police have been urged to form a joint Task Force. This Task Force will conduct frequent inspections in the areas where passengers face regular harassment, ensuring that drivers adhere to proper conduct and fare guidelines.

Unified helpline for MMR

Currently, separate helplines exist for different RTO regions across the MMR. However, recognising the inefficiency of having multiple contact points, authorities confirmed that a single helpline will be launched within a week. This new number will cover the entire MMR region and will be widely publicised to ensure passengers have an easy way to lodge complaints.
