A crocodile sighting in the Mithi River near Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) has caught the attention of local authorities and wildlife experts. Forest officials, while urging caution, reassure residents that there’s no cause for panic.
Atul Kamble from the Wildlife Animal Protection and Rescue Association (RAWW) confirmed the sighting and notified the forest control room. Pawan Sharma, RAWW’s founder and an honorary wildlife warden, explained that despite its polluted appearance, the Mithi River remains a natural habitat.
The reptile’s presence could be due to recent heavy rains causing lake overflows and flooding. While authorities don’t see an immediate need for intervention, they advise people to avoid venturing into the river.
