In a heartwarming initiative, 22 students from Ladakh are currently attending classes at AFAC English School in Chembur, Mumbai, as part of a three-month study exchange programme. Running from November to February, the programme ensures that children from remote areas like Turtuk, where schools close due to harsh winters, don’t miss out on education.
The initiative, supported by crowdfunding and the Mandlecha family’s network, allows these students to continue their studies in Mumbai while also immersing themselves in the city’s culture, food, and vibrant life. Started in 2018 by Jitendra Mandlecha after his visit to Ladakh, the programme now includes students from three schools and has grown into a beacon of hope for Ladakhi children. The venture bridges the educational gap and opens doors to a world beyond their village.
