Another infrastructural boon for Mumbai, BMC has given the green light to the Versova-Dahisar Link Road (VDLR) project. The authority has approved a substantial budget proposal, paving the way for construction work to commence in October this year.
The VDLR will span an impressive 22.93 km, inclusive of a 4.46 km connector to the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR). This 6-lane route is set to play a crucial role in a high-speed corridor to Palghar along Mumbai’s western coast.
Additionally, the project encompasses a 3.9-km tunnel between Charkop in Kandivli and Mindspace in Malad West. With a remarkable 70% reduction in travel time, the project aims to alleviate congestion and enhance the quality of life for Mumbai’s residents.
