With 2025’s theme, “Empowering Grassroots Movements for a Sustainable Future,” we are highlighting seven Mumbai-based NGOs dedicated to education, women’s empowerment, hunger relief, community upliftment and more. Here’s how they’re making a difference!
SNEHA Foundation
SNEHA (Society for Nutrition, Education and Health Action), founded in 1999 by Dr. Armida Fernandez, is a leading Mumbai-based NGO improving health in slum communities. Focusing on maternal, new born, child, and adolescent health, it collaborates with public health systems to tackle malnutrition and preterm births. SNEHA has directly helped over 400,000 women and children, impacting 1.68 million people.

Smile Foundation

Khaana Chahiye Foundation
Founded in 2020 during the Covid-19 crisis, Khaana Chahiye Foundation combats hunger in Mumbai through relief efforts and advocacy.
