In a bid to enhance the road network between Delhi and Jaipur, the central authorities are working on a string of interventions. As per reports, the Union Transport Minister recently claimed that the travel time between the two cities will be reduced to 90 minutes with the ongoing highway development project. Additionally, he also affirmed that the journeys from Delhi to Chandigarh, Haridwar and Dehradun would be covered in a period of 2 hours, once the work is completed.
Project between Delhi & Jaipur to be completed within 6 months
Reportedly, it is expected that the roads between Jaipur and Delhi will be strengthened within 6 months. Informing about this, the Transport Minister credited the united efforts of all stakeholders for fueling the progress of the project, despite the dire times of the pandemic. Notably, reports state that India has set a world record of building 38 km road every day presently and the officials are now aiming for a target of 100 km.
While the up-gradation of Delhi-Jaipur connectivity will take 6 months, the highway development schemes between the capital city and Haridwar, Chandigarh and Dehradun will be finished in a year.
GPS-based toll collection system to be introduced in the nation
The minister spoke about these development projects while addressing the annual conference of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Reportedly, he stated that all projects must be implemented in a transparent and time-bound manner.
In addition to this, the cabinet authority also talked about the introduction of GPS-based tracking systems. As per reports, he stated that a number of global firms have sent presentations and a stringent policy will be rolled out within three months. Further, the central administration is working on plans to execute GPS-based toll collection by the end of the year.
It is noteworthy that FASTags were made mandatory for all vehicles from 16 February onwards and the ones without it are bound to pay double the toll amount. Now, the proposed intervention will further revamp the process.
