Automated IVR system to monitor home isolated patients in Goa

In a bid to boost the efficiency of COVID-19 management in Goa, the state government on Thursday decided to rope in the technology of the IVR (interactive voice response) system to monitor the condition of home isolated patients across the territory. The state Health Secretary informed that this automation will help the state keep track of the steeply rising patient load in the coastal state. A private agency has been commissioned to set up the new system, he further informed.

Coronavirus in Goa: Recoveries surge past new infections for over 1 week in the state

In what could be labelled as a small but significant victory for the state of Goa, the active caseload of the coastal state has remained below the zero horizon for 8 days in succession. This is suggestive of the fact that patient recovery in the state has surged over new infections for the said period. In the last week, Goa has recorded 1,041 recoveries, higher than the total of 722 new infections.

Goa prepares itself ahead of the proposed national COVID-19 vaccination programme launch

The administration of Goa has asked District Collectors to collect the data of health workers in public and private health facilities, as a preparatory effort before the national COVID-19 vaccination rollout. It is also strengthening the cold chain management in order to ensure delivery of vaccines to the remotest areas, for the timely administration of the vaccine to the targeted population.

No procession to be held in Goa during Milad-un-Nabi, later this month

On the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi, which will be observed on the 30th of October this year, processions in Goa have been barred. This decision has been officiated by the Association of All Goa Muslim Jamats, on account of the Covid-19 pandemic, as per an official statement issued on Wednesday. The Jamat president, Shaikh Bashir Ahmed, has further mentioned that although mosques in Goa have been welcoming devotees living nearby, for the regular five times a day namaz, covid protocols still need to be followed. This includes social distancing, use of face masks and regular use of hand sanitizers.
