After the introduction of the Electric Vehicles Policy across multiple states of the country, Rajasthan is all set to roll out a similar scheme now. Previously, Maharashtra, Delhi, Gujarat and Telangana administrations have worked on parallel interventions and initiated EV policies aiming for a green future. Mahendra Soni, Commissioner, Transport Department of the Rajasthan government informed that the EV policy has been drafted and now, it will be transferred to the finance department for approval.
A step towards pollution control & greener tomorrow!
The commissioner stated, "The new initiative will help boost the sales of EVs thereby decreasing pollution. Also, the permit fee has been waived off on the purchase of EVs." Stepping forward with the sustainable development goals, the state government has offered some benefits like subsidies on the upfront cost of electric vehicles for the first line of buyers.
Additionally, the state goods and service tax paid by such individuals will also be reimbursed, in accordance with the battery capacity. Notably, these provisions were declared as a part of the state financial budget, in order to promote the sale of electric vehicles (two-wheelers and three-wheelers).
