1st coaches for Kanpur Metro arrive in the city on Monday!

In a notable feat for the Kanpur Metro Project, the first 'made in India' coaches arrived in the city yesterday. Reportedly, three rakes were flagged off from the Savli Plant in Gujarat on September 18, which reached Kanpur on Monday. Post arrival, they were taken to the polytechnic depot via Bypass and G.T. Road. Now, the UPMRC officials will initiate measures for assembling the trains so that the trial runs can be started by November 15.

First 'Make in India' train set for Kanpur & Agra metro flagged off from Gujarat today!

Aligning with the UPMRC's plan to begin Kanpur Metro trials in November this year, Alstom delivered the first prototype train for the ambitious project today. This train set was built at Alstom's rolling stock manufacturing facility in Gujarat's Savli, under the ambit of initiatives like 'Make in India' and 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat'. As per reports, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Managing Director of UPMRC and the Managing Director of Alstom were a part of the unveiling event.

UPMRC conducts traffic-diversion mock drill for the 2nd phase of Kanpur Metro Project

Moving forward with the construction plans for the second phase of Kanpur Metro, the UPMRC officials conducted a mock drill for traffic diversion at Bada Chauraha on Sunday. Conducted in two shifts-from 9 AM to 11 AM and from 7 PM to 9 PM, the schedules were successfully completed. As per reports, an underground metro station will be set up at Bada Chauraha between Z Square Mall and DCB Bank, under the proposed stretch of Kanpur Metro's second phase.

Gujarat-made rakes of Kanpur Metro to reach the city around September 15

The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (UPMRC) has made arrangements to bring in the rakes of Kanpur Metro, from the Savli plant in Gujarat. As per reports, the metro coaches will be loaded on road trailers and flagged off for Kanpur on September 5. The journey is expected to last 10-12 days, slating the arrival of carriages in the city around September 15. The rakes will be assembled here into polytechnic coaches, fit for final use.

In recognition of the UPMRC's strict compliance with high-level safety-security standards for the Kanpur Metro project, the Motijheel to IIT Kanpur corridor has received the 'Effective Safety Culture Award, 2021' by Greentech Foundation. This priority corridor consists of 9 stations and the entire facility has been set up in complete adherence to safety protocols. As per reports, it is expected that the trial runs of Kanpur Metro will begin on November 15.
