Lucknow to use both COVAXIN & Covishield in the 2nd round of COVID inoculation drive

In addition to SII's Covishield vaccination, Lucknow's health department has decided to induct COVAXIN in the city's second round vaccination drive, scheduled for Friday. About 85 booths at 32 centres in Lucknow will conduct the second vaccination session, starting January 22, where 3 city hospitals will administer COVAXIN shots, including, Lokbandhu Hospital, SPM Civil Hospital and Rani Laxmibai Hospitals. Other vaccine centres will use Covishield, read reports. Lucknow has planned to immunise a total of 8,500 health care workers in the second round of inoculation.

Lucknow to immunise 8,500 health workers in 2nd round of COVID vaccination, scheduled on Jan 22

Lucknow has scheduled the second round of coronavirus vaccination on January 22, which aims to immunise over 8,500 health care workers through 32 centres across the city. The state capital has made provisions to establish 85 booths at the centres which will administer the shot to the beneficiaries. As per reports, absentees of the first-day drive will also get the first dose jab on Friday. As per reports, 840 people out of the listed 1,200 got vaccinated on January 16, when the city flagged off its inoculation drive.

Lucknow gets specially designed  ice lined refrigerators for COVID-19 vaccine storage

The infrastructure to store the much-awaited COVID-19 vaccine establishes further in Lucknow as the city has received 4 specially designed refrigerators(ILR), each with a holding capacity of 225 litres. The fridges reached the Aishbagh cold storage centre, from where it was re-centred and stored at a building next to the Urban Health Centre and Woman and Child Hospital, which is a dedicated storage unit of the COVID-19 vaccine in Lucknow.

The city officials have started preparing the list, indexing medical staff and frontline workers who will receive the vaccine dose in the first phase of immunisation. The list includes about 14,000 municipal corporation staff and nearly 20,000 policemen, including traffic police personnel and home guards.

Phase 3 trials of Coronavirus vaccine- Covaxin, to begin soon in Lucknow

The UP government has sanctioned permission to conduct the phase III trials of the indigenous Covaxin in Lucknow and Gorakhpur. This COVID-19 vaccine is being developed by the Bharat Biotech International Limited in association with the Indian Institute of Medical Research and is the first vaccine in India to receive permissions to initiate the operations of clinical testing.
