2 samples from UP test positive for 'Delta Plus' variant!

Amid dropping positivity rate and improving recovery rate, the Uttar Pradesh administration has been alarmed by the detection of the Delta Plus variant in two samples from the state. While 2,57,897 samples have been tested in the state, only 0.04% of these tested positive for COVID, and the recovery rate stands at 98.6% now. Driven by this, the active cases in the territory have come down to 1,947 patients and a large number of them are home quarantined individuals.

UP govt increases genome sequencing to tackle the rising threat of Delta Plus

In wake of the increasing threat of the Delta Plus variant in the country, the Uttar Pradesh govt has instructed officials to undertake measures for expanding the facility of genome sequencing. As a part of this, the designated centre at King George Medical University is conducting the research and investigation of around 100 samples. Through deep analysis and genome sequencing, the number of patients with the new variant will be inferred.

Preventive protocols implemented in UP to arrest outbreak of new 'Delta Plus' COVID-19 variant

Aiming targeted interventions for caution and control against the new Delta Plus variant cases spurting across different states in the nation, the Uttar Pradesh administration has issued new orders. Simultaneously, Lucknow's King George Medical University will be conducting research and investigation for deciphering the symptoms and course of the mutant. While the samples have also been sent for screening in Pune and Delhi institutes till now, the process at KGMU will start from today.
