Lowest tally of daily COVID cases recorded in Maharashtra in 17 months

Maharashtra has witnessed a dip in daily fresh cases in a long while, with 1,485 new instances reported on Monday. The state has managed to mark the lowest daily count and the total tally now stands at 65,93,182. Moreover, as per reports, about a dozen districts and a few municipal corporations across the state marked zero fresh cases on Monday.

Maharashtra achieves the highest vaccination target in India: 93 lakh COVID jabs administered here

Maharashtra has emerged as the best performer of the national vaccination programme, the officials pointed out. An official data released on April 9 indicated that the state has administered 93,38,531 COVID-19 jabs, the highest across India. This includes 84,35,010 first doses and 903,521-second doses of the coronavirus vaccine. According to this index, Rajasthan and Gujarat stand next in line, with 88,07,351 and 84,75,305 vaccinations, respectively.

On Monday, officials of the state health department revealed that the mutant strain of coronavirus has paved its way to Maharashtra, sending the administrating authorities into a frenzy. About 8 passengers who recently returned from the UK were found infected with the new strain of COVID. As per the statement of the state Health Minister, 5 out of these are from Mumbai, 2 from Thane and 1 from Pune.
