The Uttar Pradesh tourism department is preparing to initiate helicopter taxis, that will link prominent scenic spots across the state. Based on the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, this chopper taxi service will majorly cater to the people who intend on avoiding crowds while travelling. The facility is likely to begin by the end of this year, in December.
Chopper-taxis to put an end to poor connectivity between tourist spots
"Most of the tourists, especially foreigners, visit Agra to see the Taj Mahal because of good connectivity but same tourists skip equally important other tourist destinations due to poor connectivity. The helicopter taxi service would prove an advantage for such tourists," said the Principal Secretary, Culture and Tourism department of the state, Mukesh Kumar Meshram. Visitors can travel to the destination and return on the same day with the help of this service, as per the official sources.
Tourism has suffered a major setback in the country due to the pandemic and for its revival, facilities like these are highly important. These helicopter rides will provide the tourists a way to reach multiple destinations in a short span of time and will also be a better alternative from other crowded means of travel.
Agra-like heliport to come up at Mathura & Prayagraj
As per reports, currently, only the Agra heliport is ready while construction work of other heliports in prominent tourist places, is underway. Heliports with requisite amenities to efficiently establish the service are being planned in Mathura and Prayagraj, on the lines of the one which is already built at Agra.
The helicopter rides will connect, Lucknow, Vindhyachal, Prayagraj, Varanasi and other UP cities. Travellers will also be able to use this service to visit famous Buddhist pilgrimage sites in Bodhgaya and Kushinagar. Once ready, this new service will surely attract tourists, by offering a totally different travel experience that not just saves time but also ensures safety during these unprecedented times.
