27 new BEST bus routes launched in Mumbai, check details here!

In an attempt to ensure enhanced alternatives of commute for the residents, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) launched 27 new bus routes in the city on Wednesday. Reportedly, the authorities have chalked new routes, in view of the changed pattern of commute, propelled by the pandemic. As per reports, the BEST will now converge its attention on the introduction of buses on feeder routes in the district.

Mumbai locals to resume operations for fully vaccinated passengers from August 15

Mumbai's suburban train network, the locals, will soon be able to ferry fully vaccinated passengers. In a televised address to the state on Sunday, Maharashtra CM announced that the people who have received both doses of COVID vaccines, will be eligible for local train travel. However, a gap of 14 days is imperative between the second dose and the date of travel. As of now, only those who are engaged in essential businesses are permitted to use the local trains.

Mumbai BEST buses to ply at a 'maximum of 15 minutes' interval on all routes from September

On Friday, BEST announced that all its buses will run at a 'maximum of 15 minutes' frequency from September 1. This decision stems from the regular complaints filed by daily commuters, who had to wait for 30-45 minutes to catch a bus, during peak hours and monsoon season. As such, around 26,000 bus services will be operational in Mumbai at the fixed interval, the BEST general manager stated.

Mumbai shops, salons, gyms & restaurants permitted to operate as 'unlock' begins today!

Amid the subsiding wave of the second wave of coronavirus, a new order of the 'Break the Chain' guidelines in Maharashtra, is now paving the way for 'unlock' in Mumbai from today. All essential shops, non-essential shops, restaurants, salons, and gyms in the city have been granted permission to operate, with some restrictions.

Reportedly, sanitisation activities were conducted on the premises of several such units on Sunday, to prepare for the reopening on June 7, after a two-month hiatus. Theatres and multiplexes, contrastingly, will continue to remain shut.

Iconic Victoria carriages make a comeback in Mumbai as environment-friendly e-carts!

On Sunday, the Maharashtra CM launched electronic Victoria carriages at his official residence. Making a comeback, these iconic carts are distinctly similar to the yesteryears' carriages but don't have horses pulling them. Instead, these are operated by lithium-ion batteries that offer a 60-70 km mileage on a single charge. Reportedly, 12 carriages will begin regular runs in Mumbai soon, orbiting Gateway of India, Marine Drive, and Nariman Point, where yesteryears' horse carriages were popular.
