'Orange alert' issued in Mumbai;  heavy to very heavy rains in the forecast!

The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an 'orange alert' in the city, which indicates that heavy to very heavy rains are expected in sparsely populated regions in Mumbai today. Further, reports state that the central weather forecaster has announced a yellow alert for Mumbai for Saturday and Sunday, with possibilities of heavy showers at isolated locations. Reportedly, the city has been hit hard by the continued effect of the monsoons, with issues of waterlogging and traffic snarls cropping up throughout the city.

IMD issues 'yellow alert' in Mumbai till June 17 in wake of heavy rains

The Indian Meteorological Department has raised a yellow-grade rain alert in Mumbai and Thane until June 17, amidst the forecast of heavy rains here. Isolated showers, ranging from moderate to intense spells, will lash over these regions until Thursday. As a result, a cautionary alarm has been placed here in the wake of a possible turn of weather for the worse. It also indicates that the rains may cause disruption in the day to day activities.

IMD issues warning for Goa & Maharashtra as Cyclone 'Tauktae' brews in Arabian Sea

The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted that a cyclonic storm will engulf the western coast of India, bringing heavy rains to South Konkan, Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kutch and even adjoining southwest Rajasthan. As per reports, a low-pressure area in the southwest Arabian Sea is likely to transform into the first cyclone of 2021 in the next 24 hours, which would be named 'Tuktae'. Strong winds and intensified downpours will characterize the cyclonic activity and consequently, the IMD has issued warnings in the aforementioned areas.
