Pre-booking RT-PCR test mandatory for int'l passengers landing in Mumbai & 6 other metro cities

On Tuesday, the central government made it mandatory for international passengers to pre-book their RT-PCR tests. This rule, in its first phase, will be implemented in six metro cities in the country, including Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. It only applies to passengers who are coming from an 'AT RISK' country or have visited one in the last 14 days. The new system will come into effect from December 20, giving passengers enough time to complete the procedure.

Mumbai COVID update: 250 new cases & 283 recoveries recorded in the city on Wednesday

Recording a spike in the number of fresh cases of COVID in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation reported 250 new cases yesterday. Reportedly, with the rise of 59 infections marked in the last 24 hours, the doubling rate has gone down to 2,915 days marking a decrease of 25 days from yesterday. Notably, two cases of the Omicron variant were recorded in Mumbai earlier on Monday.

Omicron enters Maharashtra as Dombivli resident tests positive

On Saturday, a 33- year old resident of Kalyan-Dombivli tested positive for the Omicron variant of Covid-19. The man had travelled in from South Africa via Delhi. He is currently kept under isolation at a Covid Centre in Kalyan-Dombivli. He had earlier complained of mild fever but is now asymptomatic. This makes Maharashtra the third state in the country, after Karnataka and Gujarat, to have reported a case of the new variant of concern.
