First phase of COVID-19 vaccination to be administered to frontline workers in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh is now entirely prepared for the first phase of the COVID-19 vaccination, ahead of the arrival of the first vials of vaccine by the first or second week of January. As per claims, in the first phase, doctors and paramedical staff of private and government hospitals will be vaccinated and in the second phase, employees of the municipal corporation, armed forces and police will be the recipients. In the third phase, the vaccine will be administered to people above 50 years.

Lucknow district officials may impose night curfew to curtail the spread of 2nd Covid wave

In a bid to contain the spread of coronavirus in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government has authorised district officials with the power to impose local restrictions in their jurisdiction, outside containment zones as well. District authorities can now impose preventive protocols such as night curfew, based on the assessment of the COVID-19 situation and need of urgent restrictive measures in Lucknow and other state districts.

Lucknow, Kanpur and other cities in Uttar Pradesh to get more night shelters

To ensure proper implication of COVID-19 related safety measures this winter season, the Uttar Pradesh Government has initiated an endeavor to build more night shelters across the entire state. In an order to the district magistrates, state's department of revenue has asked for sanitisation of shelter homes, while provisioning sufficient sanitisers and masks, free of cost, for the same. The new shelter homes will provide accommodation facilities to people in distress, ensuring nobody sleeps in the open, during peak winters.

Soon drones might be used in Lucknow & 5 other districts of UP to enforce & monitor covid norms

The Uttar Pradesh government has been directed by the Allahabad High Court to ensure strict monitoring and mandatorily enforce the rule of wearing face masks in six districts of UP, which have been the most affected by COVID-19. The HC on Tuesday said that the crowded areas should be monitored in these districts 24x7, with drone cameras. A division bench of Justice Siddharth Verma and Justice Ajit Kumar, which is keeping an eye on the government's preparedness to deal with the pandemic, said that a similar campaign should be conducted in Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Kanpur, Prayagraj and Gautam Buddha Nagar.
