COVID positive inmates in Lucknow & other UP districts to quarantine in upcoming provisional jails

In a bid to restrict the transmission of COVID infection among convicts and undertrials lodged in prisons across the state, the Uttar Pradesh government is setting up temporary jails as quarantine centres. All coronavirus positive inmates will be isolated in these centres, until they recover, read reports. UP DG (Prison) informed that all the jail superintendents have been instructed to contact their respective district administrations and start setting up temporary prisons.

'Tika Utsav' across 8,000 centres in Uttar Pradesh to assure COVID-19 vaccination for all

After the Prime Minister asked all states to amp up their COVID inoculation drives through a 'Tika Utsav', the state government in Uttar Pradesh quickly made announcements regarding it. Scheduled from April 11 to 14, 'Tika Utsav' shall be witnessed across 8,000 immunisation sites in the state. Epidemic Act extended in Lucknow & other UP districts till June 30 due to 2nd COVID-19 wave

Alarmed by the increasing COVID numbers in Uttar Pradesh, the state government has issued directives imposing the restrictions of the Epidemic act in all parts of the territory till June 30. While the act was enforced till March 31 previously, the current orders for extension attempt to arrest the possibilities of an unchecked COVID spread. As per officials, the state is already hit by the second wave of the pandemic given the escalating cases in the past few days.
