The Kanpur-based Advanced Weapon Equipment India Ltd (AWEIL) has signed on the dotted line with the Ministry of Defence (MoD). The contract for manufacturing and supply of state-of-the-art Stabilised Remote Control Guns (SRCG) for maritime applications is underway.
Through the same, the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard (ICG) are slated to receive 463 indigenously manufactured 12.7 mm SRCG, containing more than 85% Indigenous Content (IC). The cost of the guns is ₹1,752 crore.

The Indian Navy will procure 11 Shakti Electronic Warfare Systems with associated equipment at a cost of ₹2,269.54 crore, under the Buy (Indian- IDDM) category.
Through the acquisition of SRCGs, the ministry aims at enhancing the navy and ICG’s capabilities in thwarting any threats to ships by small boats, crafts and skiffs with accuracy both during the night and daytime. The deal also is in sync with the country’s vision of “Aatmanirbharta in Defence” and will aid in the growth of defence manufacturing. It will also help benefit more than 125 Indian vendors and the Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs).
“This contract will also open up a large avenue in defence manufacturing for over 125 Indian Vendors and DPSUs for over a period of 5 years,” the ministry stated.
