Moving towards the idea of channelling alternative energy resources, Mumbai on Monday received the country’s first biogas powered electric vehicle (EV) charging station. Seated at Keshavrao Khadye Marg, near Haji Ali, the station has been jointly installed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and AeroCare Clean Energy Limited. This EV charging base can generate up to 220 units of energy from household waste, supplying pollution-free e-fuel, sustainably.

A big move towards the goal of a pollution free tomorrow, the bio-gas EV charging station, has been devised to power both, EVs and street lights in Mumbai. Reportedly, the plant will be linked to the waste-to-electric power generation unit of the AeroCare Clean Energy Limited to generate electricity.
Inaugurated by Minister for Environment and Tourism, Government of Maharashtra Aditya Thackeray, this first-of-its-kind EV charging station is a two-pronged project. It will simultaneously help to discard bio wastes from houses and generate alternative, green and sustainable resources. The charging unit will upgrade the overall EV infrastructure in Mumbai, encouraging more people to switch to the emission free EVs.
