Eyeing a higher rank in the Swachh Survekshan, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation is planning to improve its civic amenities with an expected allocation of ₹10 crores of the Swachh Bharassion budget. As per reports, the Uttar Pradesh Budget 2022-23 has awarded a total sum of ₹1,393 crores to the state-wide Swachh initiative for improved public provisions. This includes the construction of public toilets, urinals, drinking water facilities, sewage treatment and solid waste management systems in the state.
Lucknow Smart City Mission gets ₹200 crores
While Lucknow has seen a considerable rise in the Swachh Bharat Survekshan rankings, there is still a long way to go, to get to the top. The state’s budget for the LMC will help further the goal of installing state-of-the-art provisions for public wellbeing.
Besides, a separate sum of ₹200 crores has been awarded for the development projects including, Integrated Traffic Management System, rainwater harvesting, garbage collection through QR codes and construction of smart toilets. These projects will be taken forward by LMC’s smart city division, Lucknow Smart City Ltd.
Infra projects in the pipeline
To improve road infrastructure, a sum of ₹200 crores has been approved under the budget for development of roads and axillary road infrastructure including bypasses, ring roads and flyovers in the state.
“Work has already accelerated in the recent past and the public can expect more projects and better provisions with the announcement of the State Budget 2022-23. We are hoping intra and inter-regional connectivity will significantly improve in the coming months.”, C.P Verma, Assistant Engineer Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation said.
In addition to this, several railway projects, such as under and overpasses are to be built. Similarly, a bridge at the Manak Nagar Railway crossing will also be constructed under the allocated budget.
