A state-of-the-art BrahMos missile manufacturing unit was launched in Lucknow today. And now, subsequently, the city is set to welcome a Strategic Material Technology Complex by PTC Industries Limited. Spanning 50 acres near the BrahMos facility, the complex will produce vital components for use in fighter jets, submarines, and spacecraft, significantly cutting down the country’s reliance on European imports.
Foundation to be laid down on Monday
Defence Minister will lay the foundation stone on Monday of this unit. The complex will feature four advanced production units, including Aerospace Precision Casting Plant, Aerospace Forged Shape End Mill Products, Aerospace Pressurisation Machining Plant, Strategic Powder Materiality Facility, along with a specialised training academy and research centre.
This marks a major leap for indigenous defence manufacturing. The production of components from titanium and super alloys, materials that had earlier delayed the Tejas Mark-2 engine production due to import dependencies, will now be locally sourced in Lucknow.
