Traffic is a major issue is Lucknow. The many autos, busses, motor bikes and cars only add to the vehicular density which in turn adds to the ever increasing pollution. Much like most cities in North India, Lucknow too has been struggling to deal with pollution and the problem is only getting worse with the passing day.
Thankfully, Lucknow will soon have new Electric Autos that will not only add to the fleet of city’s public transport, but provide a greener alternative.

You may soon see, blue and white electric rickshaws running on the streets of Lucknow, ferrying passengers from one corner of the city to the other. These electric autos much like e-rickshaws run on electricity and unlike the green CNG rickshaws, they are more environment friendly.
These autos can easily replace the traditional autos that run on the street of the city. With a more comfortable and modern approach to carrying passengers these autos will have the capacity to seat 3 passengers and a driver.
What else?
Not only will the e-auto rickshaw be more modern and comfortable than the traditional one, it is expected to be cheaper for the passengers and cost effective for the driver. The electric auto rickshaw will also have an automatic meter which will read the kilometres and charge the passenger according to the distance travelled.
The meter on these e-autos will also have a receipt dispenser which will ensure that passengers pay only for the travelled distance.
Knock Knock
The electronic auto rickshaws will definitely be an attraction on the roads of the city and provide for another means of public transport. Plus the fact that they are greener and more eco-friendly adds to the appeal of these autos. Let’s hope that they can counter at least a fraction of the pollution issue that the city has been dealing with.
