The total number of active coronavirus cases in Lucknow touched 463, after 54 new cases were reported on July 1. With this addition, the total number of coronavirus cases in the city have risen to 1192 and have crossed the 24,000 mark in UP. This huge number was recorded on the first day of the ‘Unlock 2.0’, even though not many relaxations were added to the set of state guidelines.
Lucknow in top 3 of most active cases
Lucknow stands at number 3 in the list of most active cases in the state, after Ghaziabad and Gautum Buddha Nagar, where 851 at 817 cases have been reported respectively.
In order to control the hike in the number of cases, the government has directed schools, colleges and other educational institutions in the state to remain closed. Under the new set of guidelines for Unlock 2.0, absolutely no relaxations have been given to the containment zones.

Further, to strengthen their defence against the coronavirus, the Uttar Pradesh government has procured about 50,000 antigen test kits that will be provided to the critical areas in the state. According to the Amit Mohan Prasad, Principal Secretary of Medical, Health and Family Welfare of UP, these antigen kits will help to screen even the hidden coronavirus in the state.

Though the state has entered the second phase of unlock, the threat hasn’t completely subsided and our lives continue to be at risk. So, as people return to their businesses, strictly following the guidelines listed by the government becomes a very important thing to remember.
