IMD predicts dry weather for most of Gujarat during first three days of Navratri
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted dry weather for most parts of Gujarat during the first three days of Navratri. However, some districts in South Gujarat may experience light to moderate rain and isolated thundershowers from the 3rd of October to the 5th of October.
This indicates that Garba festivities across the rest of Gujarat are likely to proceed without weather-related disruptions.
Guj Govt removes restrictions on garba timings for Navratri celebrations
Garba enthusiasts can now enjoy extended celebrations this Navratri as the Gujarat Government has lifted all curbs on celebration timings. Minister of State for Home, Harsh Sanghavi, announced that both commercial and residential venues can hold Garba events until 5 AM.
Previously, festivities had to wind down by midnight, but this year, there are no such limitations. Sanghavi, however, reminded organisers to be mindful of volume levels, especially near hospitals and residential areas.
SG Highway to undergo major transformation to ease traffic congestion
The Gujarat government has announced a plan to upgrade SG Highway, which connects Ahmedabad with Gandhinagar, to improve traffic flow and enhance the road’s aesthetics.
The stretch from Ujala Junction in Sarkhej to J-7 Circle in Gandhinagar will be revamped, aiming to make SG Highway a model roadway. This project is expected to significantly reduce congestion while providing a more efficient travel route.
Nirma University to host NASA Space App Challenge with focus on real-world solutions
Nirma University’s Centre for Entrepreneurship is set to host the prestigious NASA Space App Challenge, a global hackathon involving participants from 185 countries. This year’s theme, “The Sun Touches Everything,” invites participants to develop innovative solutions to real-world challenges.

City schools enforce stricter rules to prevent unlicensed student driving
To enhance student safety, Ahmedabad Rural District Education Officer (DEO) Krupa Jha has directed schools to strictly enforce the Motor Vehicle Act. The new measures aim to prevent students without valid driving licences from bringing vehicles to school.
