For better water supply AMC to dig 14 borewells before June 15

To further improve the city’s irrigation and drainage system, Ahmadabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on May19, has approved a proposal to drill 14 borewells in the city. The proposal was also cleared by Water Supply Committee. 

The average cost for the borewell project is ₹1.92 crore. Besides this, a tender worth ₹4.91 crore for compound wall around Vasna Sewage Plant has also been floated.

These small 14 bore-wells have been planned in the north, south and east zones of the city. The bore-well are planned specially for gardens and party plots where water supply is often an issue. Each of them will be 275 meters deep and will diligently follow water purification topics.

However, with monsoon on its way, officials at water supply and drainage department have been urged to pick up pace as no digging work will be allowed post June 15, stated Water Committee official.
