In preparation for New Year’s Eve, Ahmedabad City Police has implemented a comprehensive action plan to ensure public safety and smooth traffic flow. Key measures include traffic restrictions such as pedestrian-only zones on CG Road and Sindhu Bhavan Road, along with vehicle movement restrictions on SG Highway.

To enhance surveillance, over 8,000 police personnel will be deployed, supported by body cameras, drones, and breath analyzers.

Pedestrian-only zones on CG Road, Sindhu Bhavan Road & more

Pedestrian-only zones will be implemented in key areas. CG Road, from Stadium Circle to Panchvati, will be closed to vehicles from 6:00 PM on the 31st of December to 3:00 AM on the 1st of January, 2025. Parking will be prohibited on CG Road from 6:00 PM onwards. Alternative routes for vehicles include Bodyline Crossroads via Madaneswar Mahadev or Mithakhali Circle to Girish Cold Drinks crossroads.

Sindhu Bhavan Road between Zazarman crossroads to Taj Skyline will also be closed and has been declared pedestrian-only zone.

Traffic on SG Highway will be restricted to passenger vehicles only between 8:00 AM on the 31st of December and 3:00 AM on the 1st of January. Parking will not be allowed from 7:00 PM on the 31st of December on the SG Highway stretch between Pakwan crossroads and Sanand Chowkdi.

8,000+ personnel, body cameras, drones & breath analyzers deployed

For public safety, over 8,000 personnel will be deployed, with checkpoints at 145 locations, body cameras, drones, and breath analyzers for monitoring drunk driving. Speed guns will be used to track reckless driving. The police will also focus on cracking down on illegal alcohol distribution.

Plainclothes personnel from the SHE teams will ensure women’s safety, conducting surveillance at hotspots and addressing harassment or drunken revelry. These measures aim to ensure a safe, enjoyable New Year’s celebration for all.
