All Goa citizens who haven't yet received their second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine are encouraged to do so as soon as possible. The Goa Government is aiming to achieve complete vaccination by December19, the state's Liberation Day. At the time of filing this report, 1.20 lakh people, out of the eligible population of 11.50 lakh, are yet to receive their second dose.
Omicron fears arise as 5 sailors test positive
On Monday, 5 people, two of whom are Russian Nationals, and had arrived in Goa on a merchant ship, tested positive for Covid-19. They have been kept in isolation, and their samples have been sent to Pune for genome sequencing. Results are awaited for the same in order to determine whether the infection is caused by the omicron variant. The authorities have urged people not to panic, and complete the vaccination process to protect themselves against this new threat.
