Launched by Union Minister five days back, Asia’s longest high-speed testing track in Indore’s Pithampur is all set to revolutionise the automobile industry in the country. Reportedly, the track developed by the National Automotive Test Tracks (Natrax), sprawls over an expanse of 1,000 acres in the region. Expected to propel the auto manufacturing and business in the country, the high-speed track would permit domestic testing of vehicles across an array of factors.
Facilities for testing a list of different motor vehicles!
The longest testing track in the country and the continent, extends over a length of more than 11 Km, reportedly. 16 metres in width, it is a four-lane service for conducting specific tests on automobiles, is the fifth-largest in the world. Equipped with ample safety infrastructure, the oval testing track has been crafted in a way to handle neutral speeds of 250 kmph while the maximum speed of 375 kmph is permitted on the curves.
Given the umpteen facilities available here, a wide range of vehicles including two-wheelers, four-wheelers, commercial vehicles, three-wheelers and tractor-trailers can be checked for their performance. Notably, reports state that brands like Ferarri can also utilise this track for testing activities. Reportedly, braking, high-speed runs, mileage accumulation, high-speed handling, coast down and other testing procedures can be conducted here.
Domestic testing of luxury vehicles to help in cost-cutting
Most importantly, this new establishment is expected to benefit a number of luxury carmakers. As per reports, these production companies were forced to use foreign testing tracks due to the dearth of specific facilities in the country. Now, they will get these services within the country, which would aid in cutting down the production costs.
In addition to being a testing area, the track will also be used for as a venue for events like product launches, dealer events and multiple kinds of motorsports. As per reports, the latest development has already garnered significant interest and popularity and it is expected that it would user larger revenues for the government in the future.
