Taking its parking management system to another level, Indore Municipal Corporation started an automated entry and payment management system at its parking lots. The new system was installed at the civic body-run parking facility in Subhash Chowk in Indore on Monday.

Fast and hassle-free parking
Reportedly, the system is equipped with FASTag, online payment and comes with a boom barrier set-up, enabling fast and hassle-free parking. Additionally, a dedicated mobile application has also been launched which facilitates advance booking of parking spaces. Moreover, with the help of this application, users will also be able to check available parking spots in real time.
The said parking lot in Subhash Chowk has a capacity of over 350 four-wheelers and 250 two-wheelers. The advanced boom barrier and FASTag parking system have been implemented on a pilot basis. Following a brief trial, the system will be installed at other IMC-run parking facilities in the city.
New parking fares
As per the IMC officials, the parking facility at Subhash Chowk was built under a public-private partnership on the build, operate and transfer (BOT) model. It caters to the increased vehicular parking load for people living or commuting to Rajwada, Subhash Chowk, Sarafa, Khajuri Bazar, and nearby areas. Earlier the parking was free of cost, however, with the new system in place, charges ranging from ₹10 to ₹30 will be applied.
