Adding to the city’s sprawling infrastructure, the Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises launched Asia’s longest high-speed track in the Pithampur town of Indore. As per reports, the National Automotive Test Tracks (NATRAX) facility spreads over a length of 11.3 km in length. It has been reported that testing of automotive vehicles and their parts will be conducted here. Further, luxurious cars and other similar vehicles will also be tested for their maximum speeds at this track.

Inaugurating the facility, the cabinet minister stated that the project is a part of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat campaign. Besides promoting native technology, it will also help in inspiring innovation. Reportedly, the NATRAX facility has been established over 3,000 acres of land, which is located at a distance of 50 km from Indore, Madhya Pradesh’s commercial capital. With this new development, India’s cleanest city has received Asia’s longest and the globe’s fifth-largest testing track facility.
According to the information given on the official website, the four-lane facility will be used for development and homologation tests for a range of vehicles. Reportedly, given the large scale of the track, it will help in performing a variety of important assessments including brake tests, constant speed fuel consumption tests, speedometer calibration, noise and vibration measurement alongside mileage accumulation.
R&D labs & workshops to aid in proper evaluation
While the track is equipped with advanced resources, the R&D labs and workshops shall assist in the proper evaluation of the observations. Given the speed of progress being witnessed in the country, India’s technical infrastructure is scaling up an upward trajectory. Now, it can be expected that the quality of developments in the country will further catch pace with international standards very soon.
