Indore’s flight connectivity is set to bolster soon in line with the relaxed travel norms released by the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation on Tuesday. According to reports, Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport of Indore has been allowed up to 85% of flight movement, instead of the earlier 65%. This ease in airline provisions will permit more air passengers to travel every day and help the officials to revive the aviation sector, smoothly.

Currently, the Indore airport witnesses about 26 flight movements, with a majority of passengers travelling to Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore among other destinations. Notably, IndiGo airlines had previously announced several additions to its flight schedule and with the latest statement released today, residents of Indore will be able to travel across the nation, with improved connectivity, within the next few months.
The move has been welcomed warmly by the citizens, who were awaiting regular services to commence soon. “I have been travelling to Indore from Lucknow since I started my apparel business in 2018. During the pandemic, my business suffered a loss due to a scarcity of flights to Indore and that delayed many of my shipments. I am relieved that now I will be able to travel to and from the city in no time,” said Shubhi Garg, a frequent flyer.
Airport authorities expect flights on the Jodhpur, Varanasi, Surat, Chandigarh and Shirdi routes to resume soon. This is set to put the aviation sector right back on the runway, despite the pandemic hits suffered during the past two infection waves. The move is further pegged to patch up the inconvenience faced by regular travellers while pushing the tourism industry in its wake.
