Citizens buying two-wheeler vehicles in Indore, will no longer be assigned registration numbers with MP-09 code, as this alphabetical series of registration numbers is about to exhaust. The RTO officials are now looking for an alternative for the same and for the time being, the two-wheelers are being registered under ‘XF’ series.
New code to soon be used for two-wheeler registration in Indore
A vehicle license registration number is usually made of the state’s name and the district’s sequential number, followed by a two-letter code and a unique 4-number identity. Now, a plan to introduce a new alternative code or an alphabetical series pattern, similar to MP-09 such as MP-99 or MP-90, is under consideration.
The daily induction of new vehicles at the Indore RTO goes as high as 600 vehicles and about 50% of these are two-wheelers. This is why the registration numbers in any alphabetical series are sold out within a month. The remaining 50% of vehicles include four-wheelers, commercial, agriculture, passenger vehicles. As per an RTO official, the department will look for alternate series or codes for registration numbers, once the current series is exhausted.
