Following Indore Municipal Corporation’s (IMC) water conservation initiative in the city, Central Shri Guru Singh Sabha has taken on the task of installing Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) system at all the gurudwaras in the city. As per the officials, the installation work will be compeleted within 7 days.
Meeting held with gurudwara management teams
The Sabha conducted a meeting with all the gurudwara management teams to highlight the dire need for rainwater harvesting systems in order to conserve the groundwater level. The meeting was called on IMC’s request prior to which IMC officials presented rainwater harvesting systems’ benefits and processes to the Sabha members.
All the teams present in the meeting unanimously agreed upon the installations. Following the meeting, the president of the Sabha announced the decision of completing the installations in a week. He believes that saving water is every citizen’s responsibility. Devotees who visit the gurudwaras will also be encouraged to install rainwater harvesting systems on the terraces of their homes.
Recently, IMC has been actively employing innovation in their plans for water conservation in the city. Ponds and lakes are being cleaned and deepened so that they retain a greater volume of water during this monsoon.
IMC also plans to come up with rainwater harvesting towers or Smart Trees at several locations in the city. With the civic body and the citizens coming together for the cause, the water conservation programmes are certain to be a success.
