The Meteorology Department has predicted that cyclone Tauktae will bring isolated heavy rainfall to the Jaipur division today. Additionally, 7 districts aligned in southern Rajasthan, namely Jalore, Sirohi, Udaipur, Pali, Dungarpur, Chittorgarh and Rajsamand are also in the storm’s sight. The administration has deployed State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF )and Police Personnel in the southern and western territory of the state to resolve the fury of the meandering storm.
Tauktae storm to wash over southern Rajasthan
Strong winds and heavy downpour will wash over several parts of Rajasthan today in wake of the progressing cyclonic storm. Streamlined with the IMD alerts, and the rapidly changing course of the cyclone, the SDRF have asked the Jodhpur and Udaipur range Inspector Generals of Police (IGs) to monitor the situation in Sirohi, Dungarpur, Jalore and Banswara.
Besides the high-risk southern zone, additional management teams, constituted from different units of the state police, have been deployed near Pali and other regions which may be caught in the eye of the storm. Similarly, rescue trams have also be stationed in Raniwara, Bhinmal, and Mount Abu. Other disaster relief provisions have also been established to dissipate the cyclone threat here.
On Tuesday, several regions in Rajasthan witnesses rainfall due to Tauktae, where Bgilwara recorded the maximum 50 mm of rain. Other areas such as Chittorgarh (25 mm), Dabok (20.6 mm), Vanasthali(20 mm), Sawai Madhopur(16 mm), Bundi (14 mm) and Ajmer (11.8 mm) also received rainfall in the last 24 hours. The Regional Director of the meteorological department has stated that the cyclone effect will weaken by May 20 in Rajasthan.
