Premier technology institute, IIT-K, has made a strong statement of excellence by lodging its name among the top-5 colleges in India. As per reports, IIT-Kanpur has scaled over a position since last year’s assessment to bag the 5th position among the overall index of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). Notably, the college also stands at the 4th rank in the engineering category, preceded by the IITs at Madras, Delhi and Bombay.

The Ministry of Education on Thursday released the NIRF list, glorifying IIT Kanpur as the 4th most sought and established engineering college in India. It is also the only institute in Uttar Pradesh that has found its name in the top-5 colleges of the country. Besides the IIT-K, the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi is the only other institution in Uttar Pradesh that has made it to the top-10, by acquiring the 10th position.
Reportedly, the institute has claimed this feat after constant development and upgrade. The college secured the sixth position, in the NIRF list, 2019-2020. Earlier, the college was ranked at the 7th position in the national index for two consecutive years, in 2017 and 2018.
