A momentous achievement was celebrated at the Municipal Corporation Headquarters as Kanpur Municipal Corporation was honored by the India Book of Records- 2023 for an outstanding feat in the realm of cleanliness.
In a grand concluding ceremony, Mayor Pramila Pandey and Municipal Commissioner Shivsharanappa GN were awarded a prestigious shield and certificate, acknowledging their dedication to maintaining a cleaner city.
The campaign started on September 23rd at Jageshwar Hospital, as part of the Swachhta Fortnight initiative.
The remarkable accomplishment that earned Kanpur Municipal Corporation this accolade was a 207-hour continuous mega-cleanliness campaign. The campaign commenced on September 23rd at 4:00 pm at Jageshwar Hospital, Govindnagar, as part of the Swachhta Fortnight initiative. The relentless efforts were made possible with the collaboration of Nikunj Education Society, an integral partner of the Municipal Corporation.
Kanpur’s citizens, along with the tireless efforts of municipal workers, engaged in day and night cleaning operations across all city zones. The campaign culminated at the Municipal Corporation Headquarters at 9 am on Gandhi Jayanti. In this duration, an impressive 344 metric tons of garbage were efficiently disposed of. Moreover, 124 kilometers of roads, 10,800 meters of drains, and 14 kilometers of green belts were meticulously cleaned.
The certificate and shield awarded by the India Book of Records-2023 serve as a testament to Kanpur’s commitment to creating a cleaner and healthier environment for its residents. Speaking on this momentous occasion, Mayor Pramila Pandey stated that if any other city surpasses Kanpur’s record, the campaign will be relaunched, emphasizing the city’s unwavering dedication to cleanliness and sanitation.
