One of UP’s biggest industrial hubs, Kanpur is growing exponentially and along with the recent news of the upcoming metro facility, the city will also house a mega leather park in the coming times. The UP government is prepared to build a large-scale leather cluster in the country, which is set to generate over 50,000 employment opportunities. With this colossal venture, UP will also be the first state in India to establish a leather park.
50,000 direct & approx. 1.5 lakh indirect employment scopes
This forthcoming leather park will be established in Ramaipur village of Kanpur and this project has looped in an investment of Rs 5,850 crores, as per an official release. It is also likely that the park may garner an additional investment of about Rs 13,000 crores. The park premises will stretch up to 235 acres and it has also received the approval of the Union Ministry of Commerce.
According to reports, approximately over 1.5 lakh people can expect indirect employment and 50,000 direct employment scopes will also be up for grabs. More than 150 tanneries will work in this park and leather-based products will be produced and exported to foreign grounds.
The park will be equipped with a treatment plant to curb pollution in the Ganges due to the manufacture of leather products and the authorities will also make special arrangements to maintain cleanliness around. Further, to set up units in the park, investors have been granted access to industrial plots ranging from 4,000 square meters to 1,000 square meters. A globally-sound system for the trading of leather goods will also be set up on the premises to increase the marketability of the items.
