Bring out your umbrellas for the monsoon season has finally showered upon the people of Kanpur. The effects of Biparjoy cyclone were seen in almost 40 districts of Uttar Pradesh including Kanpur and Lucknow. The rain started pouring over Kanpur from evening June 20 and have continued till June 22. As per reports, the weather in Kanpur will likely remain same for the next three days.
The incessant rains have dropped the temperature in the city by close to 8.8 degrees Celsius.
Farmers rejoice at the arrival of monsoon
Due to the low pressure created from the Bay of Bengal, by the end of June, monsoon season will be active in Kanpur and followed by continuous rainfall.
As per Dr. SN Sunil Pandey CSA Agricultural University meteorologist, continuous rainfall is beneficial for Kanpur’s farmers. Loads on modes of irrigation have decreased for cultivation of maize, urad, moong and other vegetables and fruits. Farmers have been advised to harvest the ripe crops and store them safely. Till 10 pm on June 21, 52.6 mm of rainfall was recorded which is good for irrigation.
However, will the arrival of monsoon season various problems have struck Kanpur. These include water-logging, power cuts and falling of trees, causing difficulty in moment of people.
As per Kanpur’s weather agency, maximum temperature is expected to hover around 32°C, while the minimum temperature is stated to be 26°C on June 22. The wind is currently blowing at 14 kph from the south-east with gusts upto 33 kph. The average humidity is 85%.
