The Purvanchal Expressway inauguration will be presided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 16, read reports. Built at a budget of ₹42,000 crores, this structure stands as the dream project of the UP government for it promises to drive industrial activities, development and employment in the state.

The project has been envisioned as per future demands and can be easily extended to accommodate 2 additional lanes in case of increased traffic. It has been informed that a three km-long runway will also be a part of the expressway. Being established at Kudebhar in Sultanpur district, this runway will be used for landing and take-off of fighter jets of the Indian Air Force during emergency circumstances. Reportedly, Uttar Pradesh will be the first state in the country to have a dual runway at an expressway.
