IPL 2018 venue list and match schedules are out. To our utter disappointment, Lucknow will not even host a single IPL 2018 match.
The Ekana stadium, having a seating capacity of 50,000 people has hosted five domestic matches so far. The Delhi Daredevil team management was thinking of moving their Kanpur matches to Lucknow. However, due to ill preparations, the team management decided to skip both Kanpur and Lucknow as their second home ground venue.
IPL management committee to inspect Ekana stadium

According to sources, a team of IPL management committee will inspect the ground later this month. There is a slight chance of Lucknow to host a Quarterfinal match as the venue for an eliminator match scheduled for May 23 and a Quarterfinal scheduled for May 25 is not yet decided.
The second largest stadium in India, in terms of seating capacity, may still get a chance to host a match. However, according to the schedule released on Wednesday, IPL 2018 matches will not be played in Uttar Pradesh.
When Knocksense spoke to cricket enthusiasts in Lucknow, this is what localite Kartikey had to say- “Since last two years we are waiting for an international cricket match to be played here. The authorities should at least try and get one match in Lucknow.”
Another young kid, Ashutosh who is learning cricket in an academy in Lucknow said, “I was excited to see Gautam Gambhir play in Lucknow. I hope that Lucknow will host a Quarterfinal match.”
What went wrong?
According to sources, due to non-availability of any direct flight to Kanpur, it was being considered to shift Green Park matches to Ekana stadium. However, due to some pending work here, it was finally decided not to host IPL 2018 in Uttar Pradesh.
